Teach You How to Think Like a Healer 

We’ll discuss all of the different ailments that call for Elder, according to ancient, historical, and traditional use. We’ll also go over the six tissue states of Western Herbalism to teach you how to recognize imbalances in the body, then pair that knowledge with the gifts of the Elder tree. Historically, the best healers have worked with only a few specific plants that they knew extremely well — plants that enabled them to heal just about anything. By learning the art of herbalism with a single medicinal plant, your healing knowledge will be far deeper, more trustworthy, and in perfect sync with Nature’s cycles.

Goal #2

Show You How to Use this “One-Stop-Shop”

The Elder tree has been used since ancient times to heal a vast array of ailments. According to the healer Dioscorides, Elder “softens ye Matrix and opens ye passages & sets to rights ye disaffections about it.” It has been used historically to heal the blood and all hollow tubes of the body (think blood vessels and kidneys); to treat bruises, sprains, and stiffness; to open circulation, the lungs, and the pores; to clear skin problems, coughs, and mucus; to remedy joint pains, swelling, and edema; to soothe digestive issues, sore throats, and problems of the eyes and ears. Each of these situations call for a specific part of the Elder tree prepared in a specific way — and while these statements have not been approved by the FDA or offer any guarantees, we’ll explore what’s been done historically.

Teach You How to Make Herbal Medicine

We’ll mainly focus on the historical recipes using the flowers, berries, and leaves with a few remarks about the bark and pith. In the process, I’ll show you how our ancestors used to make flower essences, flower water, tinctures, syrups, honey pastes and infusions, oxymels, vinegars, and even alcoholic mead. Each of these techniques will be demonstrated using the Elder tree, but they can also be repeated with other medicinal plants you might want to work with in the future. I’ll also explain why you would choose one preparation over the other while helping you build a personal apothecary that can support you and your family for years to come.

Connect You with an Ancient Perspective 

We’ll also cover folklore, myths, and magic associated with the Elder tree to give you a deeper understanding of the reverence older cultures have shown this plant — and why. Known as a doorway to the Otherworld, or the magical fairy realm, the Elder Tree has been known as the “Queen of the Herbs” and “The Healing Mother.” We’ll discuss the connections between these stories and this tree’s many gifts, specifically when it comes to dreams, nightmares, and fear of the Night. Then, to bring you into deeper relationship with the Elder tree, I’ll guide you through a Plant Spirit Meditation with Elderflower so that you can feel its extremely high vibrational frequency for yourself and gain a deeper understanding of its medicine and personality.

But I've been mastering the art of herbalism for the past decade, gaining certification in holistic herbalism through The School of the Sacred Wild, studying with Matthew Wood, and even apprenticing with Ariella Daly in bee medicine. I'm also Circadian Certified through the Institute of Applied Quantum Biology and was mentored by Carrie Bennett as a quantum health clinician.
